Since concluding her record-breaking Eras Tour in late 2024, Taylor Swift has entered a new phase of her life, prioritizing personal time and new creative endeavors. The period of transition has coincided with the announcement of her twelfth studio album, The Life of a Showgirl, and new developments in her personal life.
Rediscovering Hobbies and Finding Peace
In a recent appearance on her fiancé Travis Kelce’s podcast, New Heights, Swift offered fans a candid look at her life away from the stage. She explained that after the immense demands of the tour, she has been able to focus on hobbies she had long neglected. “It’s great because I’m getting my hobbies back,” Swift stated. “When I was on tour, all I had the bandwidth for was, ‘What’s the acoustic mashup this week? How do I say welcome to the Eras Tour in Portuguese?’ That was the only thing taking up my brain space.”
The singer shared that she has returned to simple pleasures like sewing, painting, and baking. She said, “I love to paint. I love to cook. I have a different baking obsession every six months.” She noted that her current obsession is sourdough bread, a quiet pursuit that stands in stark contrast to her life on the global tour. The conversation also touched on her relationship with Kelce, with the NFL star teasing, “It’s been so fun to see what Taylor actually gets into around the house.”
Swift’s comments on the podcast reflected a shift toward a more private and grounded lifestyle, a change that has also been reflected in her absence from recent events. Swift and Kelce did not attend the 2025 MTV VMAs, an event where she was nominated for Artist of the Year.
A New Album on the Horizon
Despite her retreat from the public eye, Swift is set to make a major return with her new album, The Life of a Showgirl, scheduled for release on October 3, 2025. Swift announced the album in August on the New Heights podcast. The album was conceived during the European leg of the Eras Tour, which she recorded with producers Max Martin and Shellback in Sweden. The album marks her first collaboration with the duo since her 2017 album, Reputation.
Describing the project, Swift said it is a vibrant and lively album about her life as an entertainer and what she went through “behind the scenes” during the tour. The album is scheduled to feature 12 tracks, including a collaboration on the title track with singer Sabrina Carpenter, who was an opening act on the Eras Tour. The album’s artwork, photographed by Mert and Marcus, has been described by journalists as her most glamorous and flamboyant visual aesthetic to date.
Target Corporation has also announced that approximately 500 of its stores will be open at midnight on October 3 to sell the album, including three exclusive CD editions with alternative cover artwork and corresponding posters.
Personal Life in the Headlines
In addition to her professional endeavors, Swift’s personal life continues to be a subject of public discussion. Amid news of her engagement to Travis Kelce, reports have emerged of a rumored rift with actress Blake Lively. An unnamed source told Radar Online that Swift “feels she has no choice but to draw a line” in her friendship with Lively and is considering formally stepping back from her godmother role to Lively’s children. The report claims their friendship “collapsed months ago” amid a legal dispute involving Lively. Neither Swift nor Lively has publicly commented on the reports.
Meanwhile, a phone call with Kanye West from years ago has resurfaced, with fans re-sharing the clip. The recording is from a conversation with West about his song that included a lyric about Swift. In the clip, Swift tells him, “I sold 7 million of that album [Fearless] before you did that.”
As Swift prepares for her wedding and the release of her new album, her focus remains on her own projects and her private life. The end of the Eras Tour and the transition into this new chapter for Swift highlights a shift in her career and personal life.
